Yes
Would you like to meet with a librarian before your class to discuss your assignment and how we can make the best use of our instruction session?
Yes
Please indicate which topic(s) you would like us to include in our lesson. If the number of topics selected will not fit within a single class session we will contact you to clarify priorities. Times are approximate; details are on the instruction menu
Developing a research topic and/or research question (30-60 minutes), Understanding source types (30-45 minutes)
Where will students be in the research process when this session occurs? Research instruction is most effective when students are familiar with their research assignment requirements, have chosen a topic, and are ready to start research.
Students will be familiar with the assignment but have not started researching
How will this session fit with what students are learning in class?
Students will have chosen a place to research and will have started gathering primary sources.
Is there information it would be helpful for us to know about your students (ex. accommodations, class norms, etc.)?

Is there any other information you'd like us to have?
Katherine did an amazing workshop on finding and using primary sources last semester (Spring 2025) that gave students and opportunity to practice in class - it would be great to have the same workshop!

In order to make library instruction as meaningful as possible for students, we ask the following of instructors:
Have students complete the pre-assessment survey a week in advance; we find we get the best results when students are given class time to complete it, Explain to students why they are having a class with a librarian and how it connects to the assignment and their other work in your class, Participate during learning activities by checking in with students, encouraging their participation, and responding to questions
